Analyze your due date performance. Evaluate the accuracy of your predictions. Monitor your on-time delivery ratio.
The Due Date Performance Chart enables you to evaluate your due date performance by comparing the time between the start date and due date of a task, with the actual time it took to deliver your work. Each dot on the graph represents a completed task on your Trello board, with a cycle time on the horizontal axis and the predicted time on the vertical axis.
Your due-date performance is an indicator of your reliability. Furthermore, it’s a factor determining the quality of your initial forecast. The accuracy of your forecasts depends on the stability of your system - the more stable your system is, the more accurate predictions it will produce.
The Due Date Performance chart for Trello enables you to filter your completed work by ‘On-time work items’ and ‘Overdue work items’ to be able to perform a more granular analysis of the reasons underpinning your delivery delays.
The predicted time displayed on the chart is the difference between the moment when a task entered your workflow and the due date of the task, while your completion time is calculated as the difference between the same starting point and the task’s actual delivery date.
By clicking on each dot, you can see further details of the task. This includes information like its total cycle time, its predicted time, a direct link to the card on your Trello board as well as a detailed breakdown of the cycle times your work has spent in each Trello list.
Consider your overdue tasks on a case-by-case basis. Pay special attention to the process states with the longest cycle times to point out the bottleneck in your system and identify areas for improvement.
The line plotted across the chart is called a regression line. It runs roughly through the middle of all your completed tasks. The slope of the line illustrates the correlation between your predicted time and the actual time you needed to finish your work.
The due date regression line enables you to both assess the accuracy of your predictions and evaluate how efficiently your system is running.
The ‘On-Time Delivery’ widget visualizes the percentage of times that you delivered before your due date approached. It also maps out how your due date performance trends have evolved over time.
The most important part of analyzing your due date performance is assessing whether your work has been delivered on time. If the percentage is quite low, this means that your initial predictions are unreliable. If this is the case, you might consider forecasting your work using your past performance data with the Cycle Time Scatterplot for Trello to improve the accuracy of your predictions.
